  • The FLAME (Framing the Late Antique and early Mediterranean Economy) project involves an international group of about twenty scholars from the United States and Europe investigating the process of change in the economy of the Mediterranean and surrounding regions during the transitional period from late antiquity to the early Middle Ages in the Byzantine, Islamic and European spheres and while using coinage as a proxy.  Demo animation of results
